This book was very informative and I truly enjoyed it and found it very easy to read. It appears as a school type book and in this sense being also for young adults. The only drawback is the book is only 100 pages and if it were in smaller print in a paperback, it would probably be only 60 pages or so, but nevertheless, it is very enlightening to the whole Chicago Seven Political Protest Trial.The books sets the stage, very briefly describes the Characters, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin,, Rennie Davis, Lee Weiner, John Foines, Dave Dillinger, and Tom Heyden, also The head of the Black Panthers, Bobby Seals. Then there is the defense attorney, William Kunstler, the Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, the Prosecutor, Thomas Foran and the Judge Julius Hoffman.There is no such thing as a completely objective book, however, it appears this book is as objective as it can get and you can decide who is right and who is wrong - in your opinion.Personally speaking, I am no revolutionary, but I take the side of the seven to a major degree, at least their political ideas liberal freedom, as Che Chevara, however I am my own entity with my own value system. And their radicalness was also a sign of the times, times I think that at that time many person's minds had their perceptions opened from the use of psychedelics, enabling American society to have a large part of its populations of a higher conscious awareness level beyond the absolutism of political ideology in the flexible liberal element of free movement. And this is opposed to the stagnant political concepts of complete identification with the ego realty, and I'm sure especially to the Right conservative domination and power holders we have today.The chapter on the their bios today is way too brief, but the book is about the trial, and so, it would be a good idea to read Hoffman's Auto bio and earlier books, "Revolution For The Hell Of It!," "Steal This Book," and, Rubin's "Do It!" and so forth to get a better grip. I've read a lot of the interviews of Alan Ginsberg, some of Leary's books and Ram Dass, some Che Chevara and Fidel Castro. Anyway this book was good, but to short. A little pricey too, but it comes in this really nice laminated hard cover, cosmetic and sturdy hard bound.

A short, entertaining account of a great moment from the 60s...organized protest against the Vietnam War and the Democratic Party which waged it through the Johnson presidency. Did protest end Johnson's presidency and ultimately the war? You be the judge. But the OWS demonstrators could take some inspiration and lessons from this book

This is an interesting biography on Lance Armstrong, however, it is written with dialogue much more befitting a young adult than a child. We got this for my 3rd grader's Sports Biography book report. The writing is way too lofty for someone earlier than middle school. Otherwise, it tells a simplistic version of Mr. Armstrong's struggle and perseverance -- not really going any deeper than a reporter's version. Since Mr. Christopher writes so many of these sports books, I guess I expected it to be written with a younger voice. So if you're older than 5th grade and you need a sports book report - this is the book for you!

Sometimes this interest is akin to watching a dumpster erupt inflames, transfixed by what's happening, all the while a little nervous at what the end result might be.It's a tribute to the sheer chutzpah of whomever it was that decided that the Pittsburgh Pirates should wear a dizzying combination of black and gold uniforms that made them look for all the world like a swarm of bumblebees.This is for everyone who, like me, knows that once upon a time, the Padres looked like tacos and that the Astros wore tequila sunrises, that the White Sox swathed themselves in leisure suits, and that once upon a time in Cleveland, Boog Powell resembled a giant blood clot.

This book deserves five stars because it is a perfect baseball uniform book. Todd Radom has all the depth of knowledge you need to discuss this history. But he writes as a fan and child of the 70s. He discusses why the colorful uniforms of the 70s developed, how the trend expanded and why they ultimately went away. He is honest rather than nostalgic about the lack of color in the iconic uniforms of the 50s and carries the narrative beyond the 90s. His love of the crazy double knit era is clear. The thing that puts this book into the five star range though is that he chronicles when good teams make bad decisions (I'm looking at you Pirates Red uniform) and has an entire chapter on the "Turn ahead the clock night" of the late 90s. This is legendary among uni-fans. Radom appreciate the zany creativity of the idea and provides beautiful pictures. In fact the whole book is beautiful, a work of art in and of itself. If you love baseball uniforms or pine for the sans-a-belt pants and pullover shirts of the 70, this is a must have.

Although it had some redeeming qualities, it was disappointing. My main bone of contention was with the photos and illustrations. To begin with, they were not placed near the text on them and next they were insufficient. Many uniforms were discussed in the text that were not shown either by photo or illustration. Often I found myself reading text about a certain uniform but never was shown an image of it. Many sounded very interesting. Granted, the author could not be expected to show every memorable uniform, but at least show the ones in the text. This is theoretically a visual book so visuals should be abundant. Having to go online to look up many of the uniforms described was annoying and should have been unnecessary. I saw the author in High Heat on MLB network and it whetted my appetite for the book. As I said, disappointing.

Ever get the feeling that a book was written especially for you?I was looking forward to this since I heard about it, having owned two of the jerseys feature in the inside covers: Astros and brown Padres. I also lived in Philly when the team changed jerseys, logos and stadiums in 1970. Too bad the winning didn't accompany them in those days.Only wish Winning Ugly had more pages, photos and illustrations to enjoy. Wonderful use of cultural references (Nigel, DeLorean, Cookie Puss) to add color to an already heavily saturated story. I’d say Todd Radom is uniquely qualified for this creation. This book CHANGED MY LIFE. I had been working in the same position at the same company for the last 12 years wondering why I wasn't being promoted or approached by competitors. Along with gaining experience over the years and building my own self confidence, I needed this book to push me to take the next steps. I know this sounds silly and self absorbed, but when I was reading it, it was like Sandberg was talking directly to me. She gave me insight into some of the things that were happening around me, and some tips on what I could do to change the course of my career.Within a week of finishing it, I stood up to a male coworker who was minimizing and deflating everything I said in a meeting in front of my manager and colleagues. Pre book I probably would have just let it go and been deferential even though I knew I was right. I didn't back down on my position, but I remained calm and logical, and was still friendly. He on the other hand became angry and raised his voice. I asked him why he was becoming so emotional about he topic, and that question disarmed him completely. He said "you're right, I'm sorry." Later he came to my office and apologized again. I know he didn't like it, and I don't think his apology was sincere, but I know I at least gleaned some respect from him and my colleagues.I later noticed in another meeting in which a female coworker and I were presenting, several male audience members kept interrupting us despite the fact that we were supposed to be teaching them the material. I finally stepped in and said "gentlemen, thanks for your insights but we're going to hold questions and comments until the end." They shut up.I have finally recently been selected to attend a conference across the country with a select few other employees. I attribute this selection to my newfound confidence in my abilities and contributions to the organization, and I attribute that confidence to this book!I think every working woman should read this (especially working mothers), and possibly more importantly, every manager, male or female, should read this book.

One of the best books I have ever read. I am not a self-help book reading kind of person, but was struggling through some issues on the job. The book was recommended to me by a few people so I purchased it. It's a very easy read and the style conversational and chatty.Although the book is written from the perspective of a white female, throw any "ism" in and you would probably be able to identify. Worth reading because it gives women plenty of insight into how we sometimes perceive ourselves and our roles on the job.I could certainly identify with some of the behaviors she points out!

I loved this book. I didn't read it when it came out partly becaused I listened to reviews who claimed Sheryl's persepective was irrelevant because of her elite statue as a Silicon Valley exec. Boy, was I wrong to listen to the negative press. Should Sheryl not have a voice because she has been successful? I think not. She had quite a bit to say that I felt was relevant to my middle class lifestyle and the issues I face as a career mom. She acknowledges herself, that she can afford to have help but that didn't make her insights any less perceptive. One of the first steps we can take as we "Lean In" is to be supportive of women who speak out. Having read the book, I highly recommend it and now her critics seem mean spirited and small minded.

What is so disappointing to me is her putting the onus on women to get ahead in corporate America. The author comes from a privileged background and had powerful men as mentors throughout her career. I don't think women should depend on finding male mentors nor should they work hard to get a seat at the table at male-dominated businesses. Sheryl should be encouraging women to start their own businesses, businesses more in step with female values, and using her clout to make this happen.

It is also a guide to some of the available endorsements. The writing is specifically pointed at underwriting professionals who might be writing policies or endorsements to those policies and claims professionals who may be deciding whether or not policy coverage applies. Each provision is addressed in detail, and occasionally there are examples of case law that might apply.
